The Life of the Average Business Man

The tension builds up
Breaks down
And then reforms once again
This is the life of the average business man
Here are some of the flashpoints
Of our lives.
Chains of devotion
Slither onto our wrists
Pulling tightly
Taking control
Binding us to their every will
Like a terrorist it frightens us
And invades our lives.
Our pillows are the comfy
Blackberry phones with a shrill piercing ring
Reminding us of every buisness call
And e-mail that needs to be attended to
The rope of success
Raids our lives
Plundering our happiness
Causing dehumanization
Fastening us to a huge ton of late nights
We will tug
We will exert all our energy
To drag, lug and heave it
We have days when we wish to plunge into a blackhole
Our only hope to muster out of our stress
Is to breathe deep
While our eyes close
And dream of a glistening green valley.
